Weaver Green

100% RECYCLED ECO-FRIENDLY INDOOR OR OUTDOOR RUGS, RUNNERS, BLANKET THROWS AND BAGS

This range of products are hand woven by craftsmen and women and made entirely from 100% recycled bottles! Environmentally friendly, ethically produced, practical and gorgeous rugs and textiles by Weaver Green.

With many practical uses, they are particularly great indoors if you have animals or children and work well in hallways, dining rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Outdoors they are good for boats, beaches, patios and verandas…

This design led range of eco-friendly textiles are created by shredding and spinning recycled plastic bottles into colourful yarn, which is then hand weaved into beautiful, soft rugs and textiles with all the practicality of plastic, but the look and soft feel of wool or jute. These textiles are waterproof, stain resistant, easy to clean, mould resistant, UV stable and hard wearing. Moths won’t eat them and dust mites won’t live in them, so they are great for allergy sufferers too.

With between 100 and 750 recycled 50cl plastic PET bottles used to make each rug and approx. 50 recycled plastic bottles to make each blanket throw, this beautiful range provides a fabulous way to recycle plastic bottles, helping to reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the world’s oceans. However it’s equally important that the handmade textiles are crafted ethically, by artisans working with weaving partners who are committed to fair working conditions, independently inspected by GoodWeave. The textiles are sourced from around the world, including Turkey, Scandinavia and India. The suppliers are small, family owned cooperatives that are committed to employing skilled adults, who are paid fairly and enjoy comfortable and fair working conditions, which ensures that the textiles have been crafted without child labour.

Turning recycled plastic bottles into rugs and bags

Too many plastic bottles end up littering our seas, where they eventually break down into tiny pieces that are eaten by marine wildlife and enter the food chain. There are lots of clever people working on innovations to address our planet’s ever-increasing plastic problem, but recycling remains one of the most effective solutions currently available.
